POSTCARDS FROM THE NORTH WEST
Murrurundi is the home of metal artworks, which cannot be avoided when driving along the New England Highway through this Upper Hunter town as they greet you when you approach from either direction! Murrurundi is also the home of Charlotte Drake-Brockman and Fran Wachtel the hands and ideas behind these wonderful creations.
Fran Wachtel has now cut welded hammered and collated recycled tin to create evocative images of North West NSW Shops, houses and landscapes from Lightening Ridge to Tamworth.
Post cards are memories of places in time. As time passes some towns grow, thrive and modernise to fit purpose and some diminish and become shells of times past. Nature reclaims rural buildings no longer used because of changes in rural practice. The artists hope that their recycled tin collages capture some of these moments in time.
This exhibition is on display during the Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth providing viewers an insight to her perspective of this region.
