Fundamentals of Illustration with Danny Stanley

5 week block. SATURdays 11-2pm
Catering to adults and teenagers

This course is led by accomplished local artist  Danny Stanley.  It is aimed at young people and adults who would like to build their illustration and painting skills. Over the course, each student will learn a range of illustration and painting techniques and the theory behind it.

Each week of the course focuses on a different fundamental aspect of drawing and painting.

These include;

  • anatomy
  • perspective
  • light/shadow
  • form
  • colour and composition
  • 3d shapes
  • drawing and painting from still life with value finders for shade and lighting

Each workshop will begin with a theory lesson – explaining the element, techniques and methods to achieve each aspect. This will be followed with explanatory drawings, followed by exercises to reinforce the lesson. Through out the workshop, Danny will move around the class, helping each person individually.

Classes will cover examples of how to draw and paint the things using a variety of mediums. From traditional pencil, paint through to the ipad.

The workshops will run for 3 hours  - this allows participants time to absorb the theory aspect of the class and also time to exercise the practical part of the lesson. This results in building participants confidence and understanding.

A 16 page information booklet is supplied as resource for each student.

The cost of this course is $155.
