Artist statement
I paint about nature and the environment, and imbue my works with feelings and concerns.
When I start to paint the process is the main subject, but then through the action of painting the other subjects slowly reveal themselves.
Even when the message in the work is bleak, I hope that beauty still prevails.
In the last 2 years the landscape has revealed its bones to me through drought and fire. It has also shown me its incredible ability to restore and repair with the coming of rain. The green veil of lush growth, golden grasses and new life.
The paradoxical feelings of Black and Light.
