Over many years the Friends Acquisition Fund has made a significant contribution to the Gallery’s collection of works.

A special Friends' Fundraising exhibition Less is More 3, will open on 7 Dec 2012. This exhibition provides the opportunity for our local and regional audience to appreciate and purchase works by our very talented regional artsists.

From the Director
End-of-year message
from the director

It is hard to believe that we have just hung our last show for the year. I am reminded of the old saying ‘time flies when you are having fun’ It has been another action packed year full of exhibitions, openings, artist talks and events and I am pleased to report that our visitor numbers have shown a healthy increase with lots of positive feedback.
We have a new sculpture by Roger Noakes titled The Illustrated History of Handles.
This is a new acquisition for the Gallery and looks right
at home in the foyer.

We also have just rehung
the John Coburn tapestry Fanfare in the reception
area which certainly adds a bit of colour to the place. So if you haven’t had a chance to see this wonderful work then now’s the time. It will be up until the end of January 2010.
Of course with Christmas just around the corner you may be looking for that special or unusual gift, so don’t forget to have a look at what we have in the Gallery shop. Lots of new and interesting books, pottery, wood, glass, bags, scarfs, wraps, jewellery, book marks and puzzles.
Remember
Friends of the Gallery get 10% off all stock that isn’t on consignment.

Pam, Kate and I are off to Sydney at the end of November for two days to select the work for the ARTEXPRESS exhibition scheduled for May 2010.

The Gallery has been invited to make our own selection for exhibition here in Tamworth
from all the works that have been put aside; ie works by visual arts students who have scored in the top 10% of the state in the 2009 HSC. The works are sent to a warehouse at Hombush Bay
where curators from the Art Gallery of NSW and other invited Gallery representatives can go to
view and select works.

Beside ARTEPRESS next year we will be hosting some wonderful exhibitions:

• Contemporary Chinese Art in January

We will also be showcasing our local and regional
talent with seven shows programmed for 2010
starting with Bronwyn Woodley-Graham in
February.

So next year is shaping up to be another busy and exciting time. I look forward to seeing
you at the Gallery and wish you all a very happy holiday season.
